1968 Mexico 25 Pesos Silver Coin

 Here we'll take a look at a Mexico 1968 25 Pesos silver coin.  


72 percent silver Mexican 25 Pesos

On the obverse or front side seen in the picture above we see an native dancing with the Olympic rings below.  This 72 percent silver coin celebrates the Summer Olympics which were held in Mexico City in October of 1968.  A Latin American country had not previously hosted the games.  Bob Beamon set a record long jumping 8.9 meters or 29.2 feet and George Forman win gold in boxing and not long after goes pro.


The reverse side has the Mexican Coat of Arms with the eagle biting the snake.  This coin is available for purchase here.

 The topic of this post is 1977A One Dollar Bill Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland Ohio DC block.  It is PMG graded 65 Exceptional Paper Quality.  It has Morton Miller signatures. At the time Willis Winn was the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, Ohio serving from 1971 until 1982.  Winn worked under Fed Chairmen Arthur Burns and Paul Volcker.  He was known to agree with Volcker's tough policies to fight inflation with interest rates increases.

Consecutive Serial Number One Dollar Bill Collection from 1985

In this post we'll look at a one dollar bill collection that has consecutive serial numbers and are from the year 1985.  These notes were produced at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco district (12th district) and are of the LP block.  They have Ortega (Treasurer) Baker (Secretary of the Treasury) signatures on them.     In 1985 the US dollar was particularly strong against other currencies and an agreement was made between the US, Germany and Japan to depreciate the dollar against the Mark and Yen.  The United Kingdom and France were also involved in this agreement called the Plaza Accord .
